Grandma's Visit

My mom was in town visiting us and just left this past Thursday. Boo, hoo! We miss her! Come back, Grandma! I was really worried about how Bridget would do with her because for the past 6-8 weeks Bridget just has not done well with strangers. Right from the start, however, Bridget just loved my mom. My brother Matt flew in for a long weekend while my mom was here and Bridget just loved Matt too. She drooled on him the first time he held her, just like all the girls he dates do.

Highlights of their trip:
  • Our apartment complex had a Western-themed BBQ one night so we dressed Bridget up in her jeans and her cowgirl boots. She was a hit!
  • Went to JCPenney's twice and had Bridget's picture taken, I'll post those pictures as soon as we get them.
  • We took advantage of my mom being in town and being able to provide free (a.k.a. trustworthy!) babysitting and went to the temple with Matt. It's two hours away (one way) and we don't dare yet leave Bridget with just anyone for six hours, so thank you, thank you, thank you Mom for watching Bridget for us.
  • Went to the Desert Museum. Okay, it may sound boring but it was AMAZING! We stayed there for four hours and could have spent even longer.
  • We spent many nights playing dominoes (okay, again, it may sound like a boring old-person game to some, but it is our favorite game). I think we concluded that we all won about the same number of times, so until the next dominoes tournament, we'll say it's a tie....but I'm going to be practicing between now and then so watch out!
  • My mom also spoiled us by making us several batches of homemade cookies (YUMMMM). I froze some and ate them today and I almost felt like I was home. She also made us BBQ ribs for Sunday dinner (YUMMMMMY) and we had some of Matt's friends over to enjoy them with us (one of them is getting his doctorate here).
  • Mom and I went walking several days and one day I somehow talked her in to picking some lemons from a lemon tree in the neighboring complex (so no, it wasn't stealing! I had to convince her of that). I say "talked her into it" because she had to hop a fence to get back - how terrible am I? But she did it! Twice! We didn't realize that lemon trees have thorns until it was too late and her arms got chewed up. And then, after all of that, she made us homemade lemon bread with the lemons (YUMMMMMEROOOO!). What a fabulous mom I have! Come back soon, mom!

Can your mom come stay at my house and make me dinner, cookies, lemon bread, and babysit too?

Juls, I see you figured out the background! Yeah! You picked a really cute one. So start making a list of things we can do while I'm there. I know I won't compare to Mom, but hopefully you can brag about me on your blog! :)
