Bridget is 18 months today. Where has the time gone? We are so grateful to have her in our lives and can’t believe how much joy she brings to our home. She is still our darling and very hilarious girl, mixed in with someone else who recently realized she’s almost two. Here is a short recap of Bridget at 18 months:
- Is still quite obsessed with her thumb and Bunny (or “Munny” as she calls her), and also loves her Blankey (“Mankey”) and Puppy. Don’t even THINK of having her sleep without any of those.
- Is gaining quite the vocabulary. Some of our favorites include: highchair, flower, shower, and orange. Some of her favorite words, all which must be yelled, include: KNEE!, ELBOW!, APPLE!, AMEN! and, her favorite word of all, which must be yelled loudest of all: SHANNA!!!! Yeah, don’t ask where that one came from. Shanna is the name of one of my favorite roommies ever, but Bridget has never met her. Oh, and some of our least favorite of her words: No! No! No!, Ka-ka, uh-oh, and poopy.
- Gets very shy and stoic around strangers, but is quite the Chatty Cathy at home
- Loves saying her prayers. Sometimes we have to say several blessings and several bedtime prayers at a time.
- Laughs hardest during tickle sessions with Daddy, and spontaneously raises her arms in front of him to get him to tickle her.
- Is our little “Fruititarian.” Loves fruit, loves most veggies, and her most recent favorite veggie is peas. Eats them cooked or frozen. Any time I open the freezer (we have a bottom freezer), she runs over and emphatically yells “PEAS! PEAS! PEAS!” Often it’s quite the battle to get her to eat anything besides fruit and veggies.
- Has 16 teeth and weighs 23 pounds…still!
- Loves being outside, taking walks, playing in dirt, eating dirt, eating leaves…which is one thing I’ll never understand (“I’d rather eat dirt than mom’s cooking.”)
Bridget, we love you so much and can’t wait to see how you grow and what you bring to our lives in the next eighteen months!

She is one cute little girl!! Isn't it funny the things children become attached to...both of mine also insist on having their blankets to go to sleep too!
She's an adorable little 18 month old. I love that age. It goes by fast. My oldest is turning 5 in two weeks and I can hardly believe it.
Um, I don't know if this is possible or how I even discerned this, but she walks EXACTLY like you do, Julie. Arm swing and all.
Cute Bridget. That is funny how she carried her stroller across the street, but then put it down again on a much better surface in her mind. It is so interesting how these little ones think. Are you anxious for your new baby to come? I hope everything goes well with that! Good luck.
HA HA HA on her carrying the stroller across the street - TOO cute. will you be doing that with your new baby in her stroller? :)
bridget is SUCH a pretty baby. SO cute.
