Whitney turned six months this past Thursday. At six months Whitney:
- Has been army-crawling for about three weeks. She'll also get up on her hands and knees and crawl just a few inches and then get back on her tummy and continue to army crawl. But man oh man does she move fast with her army crawl. During lunch she was in the living room and before we knew it we looked down and she was under Bridget's chair at the dining room table.
- Still wakes up once (sometimes twice) in the night. Sigh.
- Is wearing nine month clothes. She is very tall.
- Loves chewing on shoes, and Bridget's toy broom. Which, I guess Bridget's broom is not as dirty as our kitchen broom, but Bridget does sweep with it, so it is a close second. Let's hope Whitney is building lots of antibodies from chewing on these two favorite toys of hers. Oh, her other favorite chew toys are Bridget's crayons and markers, and the kitchen rug. Which she is currently licking. Yum, yum.
- Her hair is finally starting to grow, yea!
- She started rice cereal a few weeks ago and gobbles it right up. Although every time she eats it she still makes a funny face the first few bites.
- Is probably the poopiest baby there is. I'm not kidding. Her daddy says "I've never seen so many big poops." When she was an infant we could count on her having at least a little bit of poop every time we checked her diaper. Which would be about two seconds after we changed it. She would poop every time she sneezed. I learned after two experiences of projectile poop to have a wipe or diaper VERY close by in case she sneezed during a diaper change. No joke. She's better about that now, but at least every other day she still has major blowouts when I get her in the mornings.
- Is really good about entertaining herself for long periods of time by crawling around and chewing on everything she comes across.
- Loves her mama. LOVES her mama.
- Makes funny faces. Her latest is to squish up her nose and loudly breath in and out through her nose.
- Is a SQUEALER. Her daddy says she is a seal or part dolphin. It's not an unhappy squeal, in fact, it's quite a happy squeal. A very loud, happy squeal. Especially loud at 4 a.m. When she wakes in the mornings she'll lie in bed for a good 30 minutes and talk and squeal. I think she is just happy to be alive and she wants everyone to know it!
- Adores her big sister. Giggles and giggles at her sister. Loves grabbing her sister's hair. Her sister is very patient.
- Her daddy says this about Whitney "She is a lot different than she was at one month." The first few months we had the sweetest, cuddliest, and most content baby. The past few weeks she has definitely shown us she has an independent and determined side! She doesn't love to cuddle as much any more, and when she wants something, she wants it!
- Always wants to be on her tummy. Especially during diaper changes. A true test of her parents' patience.
- Loves playing with her daddy.
- Can pick up small things such as bobby pins and smarties. Again, sigh.
- Loves being outside and being in the bjorn.
- Is absolutely darling - a round little face, chubby cheeks, big blue eyes, a gorgeous smile and squishy thighs.
