First Post

This is our first attempt to get pictures to all of you who want to see pictures of and hear about beautiful Bridget.

No matter when you start counting, Julie was in labor for a long time. Once we had the baby heart beat monitor on, we could tell there was something not quite right -- every once in a while, Baby's heart rate would drop well below normal for a few minutes; very scary. Once Julie started pushing, it didn't get better. Early on, the doctor said that if the heart "decelerations” continued, that a cesarean may be necessary.

After two hours of pushing, the doctor had had enough and called for the cesarean. There was a flurry of activity and nurses came out of nowhere. Within a few minutes Julie was in the OR. Unfortunately, the epidural was not totally numbing her, so they had to opt for general anesthesia. Which meant that Matthew could not go into the OR, but had to wait in the hall.

Once Baby came out, Matthew got to accompany her to the nursery where they cleaned her up, did measurements, etc.
